In Other Words
Student is able to determine the meanings of words based on prefixes (e.g, re, mis) and suffixes (e.g., ly, ness). Student is able to determine meanings of multisyllable words by breaking the word apart. Student is able to identify and read grade level words that are irregularly spelled.

Student can use knowledge about spelling patterns and it apply it to the spelling of new words.
(e.g., doubling of consonants, “le” endings, adding suffixes). Look for larger words that contain the targeted spelling pattern. Find and write words with plural endings, prefixes, suffixes and compound words. |
